Marcus founded FK International Recruitment in 1998. His vision was to create a specialist financial recruitment consultancy, capable of adapting to requirements of a continually evolving market. Marcus has managed the Executive Search function FKI Executive since 2004.
Marcus delivers trusted advice and executive search solutions to senior executives and board directors across our client base which includes multinationals, emerging high growth companies banks and financial services companies, private equity and professional services firms.
Marcus is recognised as among the best-connected and most knowledgeable specialists in the financial search industry in Ireland. He has leveraged his unrivalled network to place senior executives into key financial roles. Marcus also works as an advisor to CEO’s and many other business leaders.
Prior to executive recruiting, Marcus worked with Big 4 accountancy firm Arthur Andersen.
Marcus received a Master of Business Studies (MBS) and a Bachelor of Commerce from University College Dublin. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the Chartered Accountants Ireland.

We were engaged to source a Chief Risk Officer for one of the largest banks in Ireland
The market for experienced CRO’s is highly competitive and it is a challenge for any bank or financial services company to hire an experienced and first-rate CRO.
We used our extensive network and our research capability to build a detailed local and international market map. In some cases, we were able to establish sound referrals for highly qualified candidates. This knowledge enabled us to laser in on suitable candidates who we felt might be motivated by the opportunity. We worked closely with the Group CEO during the interview process to ensure a positive candidate experience. The candidate subsequently hired has a great start and is already a key member of the executive leadership team.
Large PE-backed Company
We were retained to source a CFO for a rapidly expanding large private company who had just taken a P/E investor on board.
To source a candidate with the skill set to a) run a high-performing finance function in a high-growth environment; b) to the support the CEO in driving the strategic growth agenda and, c) to manage the investor relations, banking and corporate finance agenda.
After a very rigorous search we identified an Irish candidate working internationally who had recently completed a successful exit process (as CFO) with a similar sized business.
We were retained to source a Treasurer to manage a large European Treasury function. The person needed to have experience structuring and managing complex funding vehicles.
The client had previously engaged an international search firm (no Irish presence) to conduct a Search. The firm had not succeeded in finding a suitable candidate.
The previous search firm had cast the net wide but without the advantage of a local market network, they were unable to identify a suitable candidate. We used our local market knowledge and deep candidate network to identify three top-class candidates who had not previously been identified or approached. We made a successful hire and based on this we were awarded three subsequent executive level searches.
We were retained to source a CFO for a subsidiary of a major global bank based in Dublin’s financial services sector. We were selected to manage the search, given our deep specialist knowledge of the CFO market.
The requirement was to hire an individual with prior experience working as a Bank CFO with specific capital markets experience. The candidates’ skill set needed to meet the standards required for Central Bank approval.
We conducted an international search, with a particular focus on candidates who had a personal motivation for moving to Ireland. We identified a shortlist of five candidates and our client ultimately hired a top-class CFO, working in the local market.
Group Head of Internal Audit
We were engaged to source a top-class, experienced person capable of running a large internal audit function for a large, publicly listed, highly-acquisitive global Group operating across a number of industry sectors.
The role involved significant travel, and person needed the leadership skills to manage and motivate a team across different geographical locations.
We prepared a detailed market map of candidates working in similar roles internationally. We worked with the client to build a job specification which reflected the scale of the role and the long-term opportunities available. We helped to position a remuneration package sufficient to attract the caliber of candidate required. We presented a short list of five candidates, one of whom was successfully hired.
We were retained by a top-tier Investment Manager, who was establishing a business in Ireland, to source a Country Manager to build, manage and grow the business locally. As Ireland was a new market for the client, they had little visibility on the available talent pool
Requirement was for an Individual with a P/E or Venture Capital investment background, a well-established network and a proven capital deployment track record.
Given the relatively small size of the local market, we needed to expand the target candidate pool to include those with investment backgrounds and related synergistic backgrounds.
We advised our client to also consider origination focused candidates coming from Corporate Finance advisory backgrounds. There is an excellent pool of such candidates operating in the Irish market. We undertook a comprehensive market mapping exercise to identify a strong talent pool. A top-class highly experienced candidate from a Corporate Finance background was ultimately hired.
